An HDRI is a 360° background that also contains lighting information. You can use Capture Tools to take HDRIs in-flight and in the editor, to serve as a quick background, and to cast ambient light/sunlight on your Blender scene.
It can take several seconds to take a high resolution HDRI, during which time the game will be frozen.
The Capture Tools UI can be opened in the editor with F8
.
Note
For the colours to look correct, you need to set the texture node's colour space to Linear Rec.709 and add a Gamma node set to 2.2 following the texture.
Caution
There is an incompatibility with Scatterer that causes the edges of clouds to look black, and not always map to the planet properly. This is planned to be fixed.
