The upper and lower bounds of the checks are extended well beyond the range of the knots to make sure that symmetric splines remain symmetric, and that knot-a-knot continues to match TSpline3.
The data dimension was incorrectly calculated causing the test to (incorrectly) fail for points outside of the knot domain.
The bounds check was correct before the change, and the "fix" was wrong. The aec1d2a commit does not pass testing.
