What is Algobot?

Mihir Shrestha edited this page Mar 25, 2021 · 6 revisions

Purpose

Algobot is a cryptocurrency trading bot written in Python that employs a graphical user interface. There are many services online that charge a fee for very basic trading strategies and some open source projects that are fully command-line based and not as user friendly. Algobot aims to solve those issues by providing a user-friendly interface that users can use to setup their own bots and trade in the cryptocurrency market.

History

Algobot was started by Mihir Shrestha and Peter Motin during the summer of 2020 to create a basic script for trading cryptocurrency. The project evolved on and on from then to become what it is today.

Contributions

As this is an open-source project, it would be great to have other people collaborate with us on this project and make the best cryptocurrency trading bot possible.

Risks

Cryptocurrencies are risky and volatile by nature. Algobot holds no responsibility whatsoever for any burdens, glitches, or bugs faced during trading. It's recommended to do extensive simulations and backtests before starting to trade in the real market.

Taxes

Algobot currently does not provide any forms or paperwork regarding gains or losses. Please consult your broker for that information.

Scammers

The base version of Algobot is and always will be free software. Please don't fall for scammers attempting to sell you the base version of Algobot.

Exchanges

Algobot currently only supports trading through the Binance exchange, but we will move on over to CCXT soon to support trading through more exchanges.
