How to get the symbol character itself, rather than the name?

Hello, I am hoping to use this panel as a way to copy SF symbol characters to the clipboard. I can't seem to get anything out except for the name of the symbol (eg 'rectangle.portrait.and.arrow.right.fill') – But what I really need on the clipboard is the text character of the symbol itself. I'm very novice, so apologies if this is naive a question.
