AMS is installed with default config (to run as user ams, which seems like a good idea) but many files/directories are owned by root, which means that sometimes information can fail to be written to a log file

for example:

$ ls -l logs/_defaultVHost_/
total 8
drwxrwxrwx 2 ams root 4096 Jan 20 16:56 admin
drwxr-xr-x 3 ams root 4096 Dec 24 10:58 live
