Regulation 9p2b, introduced from January 1st, 2025, allows progression at certain National and Continental Championships to incorporate a number of reserved spaced for competitors from the relevant region. The WRC is aware of a competition that would like to make use of this Regulation as soon as January 18th, 2025.

Currently, in order to make use of reserved spaces, organizers/Delegates using WCA Live would have to take the following steps, which are extra work and lead to the potential for error in application:
i) Manually determine which competitors progress (by reviewing the nationality of the top-ranking competitors); and
ii) Manually adjust adjust progression to the next round by quitting higher-ranked competitors who must be superseded by competitors from the appropriate region and adding in those regional competitors.

From a competitor/spectator experience this is also suboptimal at until these steps have been taken, progression is not transparent solely from the results of the previous round.

It would be helpful if WCA Live supported automating this function in some way. I'm not sure of the simplest way to do so, reserved spaces for progression are not currently supported on the main WCA website, and changing progression criteria there may be overkill.

I think to properly support it, it should be added to WCIF and specified on the WCA website, as advancement condition (or something on top).
