I know this AMI is going out, but I was wondering if there was a good portable pre-script that could be run before using something like DSE's lifecycle manager.

IE - doing all of the RAID0 necessary steps

This script has an undocumented --raidonly flag which does no software install but does perform raid setup. You could continue to use ComboAMI with that flag (or you could fork it and and dramatically simplify the code so it is capable of nothing except the raid code). I cannot exactly recommend this path since no one is maintaining the AMI anymore and it will increasingly fall out of date and become insecure through aging/non-updated base-packages. But technically it does work as far as I know.

I am not otherwise aware of a good raid-setup script for AWS, which confuses me to no end... because DSE/Cassandra are not the only systems that want good disks. If anyone IS aware of such a script, please report back here. We'll update the docs here and for Lifecycle Manager to reflect the process.

Awesome - good to know.

I was in the process of stripping out the stuff that matters to do the raid setup, I’ll check out the flag setup.
