This is not high priority, but I would like to get it started so that when I do need it we know how to get it.
What I would like, on probably a quarterly basis, is a log of search activity in the portal. Right now there are not really users, so I expect the report to be mostly empty, and that's fine. Karl suggested:
I think we need to rope in Mike D. as far as accessing the log stream and Josh could help identify the subset of logs we need such as the main recordset query requests. Mike might need guidance on what deriva-client-context JSON field(s) are needed as well.
this is new territory as we are not using the same postgres-based log collection mechanism we use at ISI
This is not something I would ever need to be pretty or user facing. I literally just want someone to email or slack me a log when I request it. I'll write a script that makes it into the report we need for NIH. So, for the first one, mostly empty is fine, so I can get a parsing script written, and we can figure out exactly what you need to do to generate it, so that hopefully the first time I need one for real it will be a simple send me a file.
