Programmatic integration with yazi for more advanced features

I wanted to share a plan that I have:

Currently yazi.nvim has rudimentary access to yazi via a simple floating
terminal window. This allows implementing basic features such as opening files,
but makes several assumptions:

• some yazi keybindings such as <enter> (open file) and <c-v> (open in new
  tab) are dependent may conflict with the user's keybindings or might not be
  present with the default yazi mapping if the user changed them
• the interaction with yazi is limited to a simple cycle of open yazi -> do some
  actions -> inspect the rudimentary events reported by yazi.
  • yazi has to be constantly opened and closed to interact with it - it's not
    possible to keep it open for a long time, or to resume the session after
    closing it
• it would be cool to expose much more of the neovim editing state to yazi, such
  as
  • the currently visible splits
  • the currently open buffers/files

To create richer experiences like these, I have opened an issue which can be
used to track the progress sxyazi/yazi#989
