Configuration for the template

LateX virgin here. I am working on a research project, and I came across your template through overleaf. The documentation seemed promising, so I decided to clone the github project and try to understand it offline. My current setup consists of Mac OS 12.7.6, MacTex 2024, TeXStudio, and VS Code. I have very limited experience working with LateX, in fact this is only my second time trying to configure a LateX project offline. Can you guide me on what is the right way to use your template and configure it properly on my setup? I am having a hard time running it.

Currently getting the following error when I run the thesis.tex file

This is BibTeX, Version 0.99d (TeX Live 2024) The top-level auxiliary file: thesis.aux I found no \citation commands---while reading file thesis.aux I found no \bibdata command---while reading file thesis.aux I found no \bibstyle command---while reading file thesis.aux (There were 3 error messages)

Are you "running" the thesis.tex file with latexmk?

Also, the error message mentions BibTeX, but TeXtured uses biblatex package for references/citations, which runs biber as a backend (make sure you have it installed).

I have MacTex installed on my mac so latexmk as well as biber come bundled in it according to my understanding. When I compile your code, I was getting the aforementioned set of errors. However, not sure what went wrong in the last few hours, now when I open the file thesis.tex, TeXstudio shuts down.

Can you perhaps share your setup and configurations, as well as the softwares you are using to edit the template so I can try my hands on the same stuff to see if I can replicate your results?

Can you just try to call latexmk from terminal, as described in README.md? I don't see a reason why it should fail (assuming all dependencies are installed and there are no changes to TeXtured files).

I use neovim as an editor (with packages such as vimtex, you can see my config on GitHub), and zathura as PDF viewer.
