Steps to reproduce

  1. Go to app.element.io
  2. Log into a matrix.org account (no third-party login)
  3. Click your avatar
  4. Click "Link new device"

Outcome

What did you expect?

To see a QR code to log into Element X

What happened instead?

"QR code not supported: Your account provider doesn't support signing into a new device with a QR code."

matrix.org indeed lacks support. It is missing https://github.com/matrix-org/matrix-authentication-service
