Would be nice to have debugging as a universally accepted option. We could expose a pkgsDebug "other package set" which would:

  • Disable default hardening flags which makes C/C++ debug significantly more difficiult
  • Provide a config.debug.enable flag so that build systems such as CMake then can choose an appropriate default like -DBUILD_TYPE=Debug
