Configuration error compiling numpy

bentomaker: Error: bentomaker crashed (uncaught exception <class 'waflib.Errors.ConfigurationError'>: Add options(opt): opt.load('compiler_fc')
(complete log in /home/stefan/src/numpy/build/config.log)).

The config.log shows gcc commands, but nothing suspicious.

I am running python 3 and the latest numpy from git (which I had to patch in order to get it to compile).
