How to ADD NEW LINE when appending to scratchpad???

I tried adding the "---" for line divide.

I tried adding
this one almost worked but then the bullet point after it didn't look good.

I just want to be able to append things to a new line. Like pressing the enter key once or twice would normally do. i.e., making an empty line in between two separate entries.
