Some outstanding issues around this:

• JNI DETECTED ERROR: CancellationException: vpnDestroy #1677
• v055n: App hangs on STOP #1629
• [Wireguard Bug] - Listen port isn't released when another VPN app attempts to start a VPN on the same port #1545 (if Proxy is active)

In v055o (due in a few days / weeks) the lifecycle around START / STOP has changed completely; and so, I expect this issue to have been auto-resolved...
