New Tab Gifs Not Working?

I'm using the FF Quantum and I've installed Whimsy, but for some reason, the gifs for the new tab page aren't displayed. I've tried toggling preferences and uninstalling/reinstalling Whimsy to no avail. The new tab gifs were working before I installed another add-on, which I later uninstalled, called "OverrideNewTab", which essentially allows you to choose what new tab page you want to see. Even after I uninstalled this add-on and restarted FF, there was no change to the new tab page. I'm afraid I may have permanently messed something up by uninstalling that add-on. Are some parts of it still affecting the new tab page even after uninstalling it?

Hmmm, they shouldn't, but I'll investigate when I get some time and see if I can reproduce it…
