Collect payment information

Hello,
Does Braintree provide a mechanism to use the sdk to pass collected payment information directly to the graphql endpoint to obtain a nonce?

My understanding is that you have to use the drop in client UI in order to collect payment information and use the client side sdk to obtain the nonce.

I haven't seen any documentation that shows a pure server side flow. Is this even possible to do?
