Heads up.
Credit markers were discussed at ISDCF. (Unfortunately I was not able to attend, the 3am start time for me is just too much)
But in the notes:
Credit Markers
Do all CPLs have credit markers? Are they being used?
It is part of RDD52 - requiring credit markers in CPL. Some distributors say all their
content is distributed with credit markers. It’s not clear how many exhibitors use it.
Which leads me to ask, what stance should we take on Credit Markers. I personally think them super important and would prefer to see a error/warning that makes it very clear they should be present in say any feature/short type content that you would expect them.
But really, you cannot FAIL content is they are not present.
This is a big issue as I see more reliance on them in the future for automation. And like a lot of automation, there will eventually be relied upon to much. As such, software such as clairmeta really needs to bring attention to them.
Something to think about.

Thanks for the note @jamiegau, I'll let other comment on the importance of Markers.
Just wanted to add that when the idea of custom check profiles is implemented (ie. check once; validate against multiple profiles of DCP), we can can hopefully support that and let users choose what weight they want to put on Markers. If we provide a RDD52 profile, then it should probably throw a plain error if that's something specified.
