Was Inter Cam Sync mode 4 functionality changed in one of the firmware update? #11826
-
I have been using three D435 cameras with Sync Mode 4, which previously triggered them at the same framerate as the master camera. Now it is halved. Was this changed in recent firmware update? The white-paper for genlock has also been deleted. |

Hi @mahir1010 Support for the Genlock mode has been withdrawn because it was an experimental proof of concept rather than an official, validated Intel RealSense feature. The online white-paper has been withdrawn from availability but mode 4+ still works in the RealSense SDK and an archived PDF version of the paper can be obtained at the link below. I am not aware of a change that would cause the halving of your framerate. If you are using camera firmware version 5.14.0.0 though then make sure that you are using RealSense SDK version 2.53.1 as the 5.14.0.0 firmware is not compatible with older SDK versions such as 2.51.1 and 2.50.0. If you are using an older SDK with 5.14.0.0 and cannot upgrade the SDK version then the firmware driver should be downgraded to version 5.13.0.50. |

Genlock mode 3 will not work with a D435 as its depth sensor and RGB sensor are not integrated on the same circuit board inside the camera. I believe that mode 3 was designed for the D415 camera (which has the RGB sensor integrated on the depth board). If you are using a master camera to trigger the slave cameras instead of an external trigger pulse from a signal generator, would it be possible for you to set the Inter Cam Sync mode of the Master to '1' and the slaves to '2'. Modes 1 and 2 are the original hardware sync mode settings that continue to be supported by Intel. |
