cant get freedvdboot to work on my scph-90001 so i can install mechapwn

i keep getting the disc cannot be read error, tried a wow wow wubzzy dvd, tried my us copy of beatmania, tried an audio cd, tried unplugging my controller, using different software to burn, tried using diagnostic mode, used finalize disc, even burnt at 1x speed. AND NOTHING WORKED.
my wubzzy dvd, my ps2 game i already had, and my audio cd were playing fine, so idk what's going on.

my dvd player version is 3.11u, i'm using the all ps2 slims iso, and i'm using the verbatim dvd-r discs so any help would be much appreciated. thanks!
